Frets by Mail is a mail-in service for bolt-on guitar necks, shipped directly to us for professional fretwork & nut optimization.

You send your guitar neck to us, we do the work, then send the neck back to you.

FRETS by MAIL

Our services always include fretwork and, in most cases also some work on the nut. In some situations, it may also involve installing tuning machines, string trees, or other components related to the guitar neck.

Optional 3D scanning services are available for advanced diagnostics using our proprietary FretLab PRO software.

We do not perform cosmetic repairs or re-carve guitar neck profiles. Refinishing is limited to restoring the fingerboard finish, only (not the back of the neck), as part of a refret on a maple fretboard, when finish had to be sanded off.

We do not accept complete guitars by mail. Only bolt-on guitar necks, shipped in mailing tubes, are accepted.

our toolbox

While it may be possible to do a fret job with a Swiss Army knife, quality work requires the proper tools. We own every specialized tool ever developed for guitar fretwork.

In addition to these standard tools, we also use proprietary equipment and the FretLab PRO software, developed in collaboration with Dr. Kevin Housen (retired research scientist from Boeing).

our vision

Our vision is simple: to provide the best service possible to every customer.

We also continually seek new and innovative ways to service guitars. Guitar Quackery is known for pioneering approaches such as guitar microscopy, 3D scanning with the use of FretLab PRO software, and now for introducing the new Frets by Mail service.
